FAQs

What is Dungeons and Dragons?

Tabletop roleplaying games are a communal narrative board game. There are many forms, or systems, that these stories can take place in. The most popular of these systems is Dungeons and Dragons, or D&D. The game is run by one of the players who takes the role of a GM, or Gamemaster; this person decides how the world interacts with the players, and tells the fundamentals of the story. Most decisions are made with dice rolls and bonuses produced by the players’ characters.

So is it hard to learn?

Not at all, it’s hard to master. D&D tends to leave a lot of the heavy-lifting to the GM, letting the players ask rules questions and in-world statements on the fly. All you need is an idea of a character, and maybe a funny voice.

Do I have to roleplay/speak in an accent?

Definitely not, most players who are newer to the game shy away from role-play. It is fun for sure, but it’s not the focus. The focus is on storytelling.

What kind of themes are involved and can i avoid certain ones?

Absolutely, we strive to make inclusive stories. We’re happy to take out or modify any existing stories to accommodate fears or worries, especially involving children. Don’t be afraid to test yourself in the environment.
